It’s back-to-school season! How excited are you? I had an idea on what to expect but I sincerely had no idea on the depth of preparation needed. Cheers to all parents! One of the major things I expect from this school term is to hear stories about my son’s friends and his relationships with them. Thinking on this future interaction inspired this post. A child’s social skills are essential for their overall development and success. Teaching them appropriate etiquette can help them navigate their interactions with peers and teachers smoothly. Here’s a breakdown of age-appropriate etiquette tips to prepare your child for the new school year:
Kindergarten

- Basic Greetings: Teach your child to greet adults with a firm handshake and eye contact, saying “Hello, [teacher’s name].”
- Sharing and Taking Turns: Emphasize the importance of sharing toys and taking turns during playtime.
- Listening Skills: Encourage your child to listen attentively when others are speaking and to wait their turn to talk.
- Respect for Others: Teach your child to be kind, considerate, and respectful of their classmates and teachers.
Grades 1 and 2
